Bihar (51.91%), Jharkhand (42.16%) and Uttar Pradesh (37.79%) are the poorest states in the country. Kerala (0.71%), Goa (3.71%) and Sikkim (3.82%) had the lowest poverty: Multidimensional Poverty Index.
WHO has named the new COVID-19 variant, recently found in South Africa, as Omicron. It expressed concern saying that it spread faster than previous variants and also has an increased risk of reinfection compared to earlier variants.
Andhra Pradesh (AP) will implement its energy-efficient Eco-Niwas Samhita Programme in 28.3 lakh houses under its housing scheme. It looks to reduce temperature inside houses by enhancing thermal comfort. Energy consumption by residential buildings makes up 38% of the total power consumption in AP.
Jharkhand’s public outreach program Apke Adhikar – Apki Sarkar Sarkar Apke Dwar, launched on November 15th, has received over 4.12 lakh applications in less than 15 days. It has disposed of 1.78 lakh applications. Around 74,411 applications were for pension schemes; 24,000 were for enrolling in the e-Shram portal, etc.
Salaam Bombay Foundation and Everest Foundation launched the first rural chapter of its Skills@School Programme in Lakhmapur village, Nashik, Maharashtra. In 3years, the project will train 900 school children in various skills such as appliance repair, beauty and wellness, fashion design, financial literacy, etc.
