US Agency for International Development (USAID) announces the India-Yash programme. It will engage youth in decisions about reproductive health (RH) and wellbeing. It will have a special focus on marginalized youth in urban and rural Assam, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
Niti Aayog has praised the Maharashtra (MR) government for the decrease in the number of underweight children in 12 districts of MR. in the past 5 years. The percentage of underweight children decreased from 44.5% to 32.5% in all 36 districts of Maharashtra.
After Kerala reported 13 cases of norovirus, Kerala Health Minister asked people to be vigilant but said that there is no cause for concern. She stated that people need to ensure the hygiene of drinking water sources. Norovirus is an animal-borne disease that transmits through contaminated water and food.
Jharkhand announces a universal pension scheme for elders, widows and specially-abled people. However, it excludes beneficiaries whose immediate family members are income taxpayers or permanent employees of Government and PSUs.
Puducherry CM Rangaswamy announces a compensation of Rs. 25,000 to people who lost their house due to rains; Rs. 20,000 per ha to the farmers who lost their crops; and Rs. 5,000 to registered construction workers and fishermen who lost their livelihoods.
