Livelihoods Update: 16 November 2021

Tribal Affairs Ministry is seeking the Cabinet nod for revamping some tribal welfare measures. Changes include establishing digital classrooms in each Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS); bringing all scholarship schemes under one umbrella scheme; and setting up project monitoring units in all states to monitor tribal welfare schemes.

GoI and Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a loan agreement of $61 million to develop the city of Agartala, Tripura. It will build and upgrade 48 km of stormwater drainage systems, construct 23 km of climate-resilient urban roads, etc.

Jammu and Kashmir (J & K) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced a target of 2 lakh cases for sanctioning and financing self-employment schemes in the UT. Special focus on SC, ST, OBC and women entrepreneurs.

Supreme Court asks the Centre and state governments of the national capital region (NCR) to address the five main causes of air pollution in Delhi,-NCR within 24 hours and submit an action plan by tomorrow morning.

Karnataka Planters’ Associationaks Centre to reschedule loans of coffee growers to 7 years, as rainfall has damaged coffee crops. It requested the interest rate to be 10%, and that interest should be shared by Centre, growers, and banks.
