68.3% of children in rural areas and 64.2% of children in urban areas were anaemic. 56.5% of rural women and 60.2% of urban women were anaemic. 52.2% of pregnant women in the 15 to 49 age bracket were anaemic: National Family Health Survey 5.
India and Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a $300 million loan to strengthen Primary Healthcare in urban areas of 13 States in the country. It will benefit over 256 million citizens, including 51 million slum-dwellers.
Mission School of Excellence Programme will transform 20,000 Government schools in Gujarat in the next five years. The World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Development Bank will provide Rs. 8000 crore to the project.
