Livelihoods Update: 5 November 2021

In Odisha’s Nayagarh district, 24 villages got community rights (CR) and community forest resource rights (CFRR) on Nov 2, 2021. The rights have been given under the ST & Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 and 2012 amendment.

The Centre has cut the excise duty on petrol by Rs. 5 and on diesel by Rs. 10 yesterday. It has also asked States to decrease value added tax (VAT) to give more relief to consumers.

UP CM announced the extension of PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till Holi. Under it, a free ration of rice, wheat and pulses, salt and edible oil is provided. In the scheme, the government is giving 5 kg extra food grain.

Flipkart signed an MoU with the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) to boost local businesses and SHGs, especially those led by women, and get them all into E-Commerce.

Air Quality in Delhi became “hazardous”, when calculated at Janpath, merely a day after Diwali celebrations. Particulate Matter (PM) 2.5 concentration was at 655.07 on Friday; which is much higher than the 380 level that is severe as per Government standards.
