Livelihoods Update: 8 November 2021

Maharashtra won the Inspiring Regional Leadership Award from Under2 Coalition for Climate Action (U2) in Scotland. It won it for notifying over 9,800 ha of mangroves as protected areas and for a climate change mitigation program.

Women and Child Development Ministry stated that there are over 33 lakh malnourished children in India. Of them, around 17.76 lakh children are severely acute malnourished (SAM) and 15.46 lakh are moderately acute malnourished (MAM).

India along with 26 other countries signed a sustainable agriculture action agenda at the COP-26 Summit in Glasgow. The agenda includes commitments to change agricultural policies to facilitate more sustainable and less polluting agricultural practices.

MGNREGA workers in Himachal Pradesh have not received their wages since the past 2 months due to which workers are struggling. The reason for the delay is that the State has overachieved its half yearly targets, and the money has crossed budgetary allocation from the Centre.

J & K Tribal Affairs Department allotted Rs. 38 crore for tribal development works in Poonch district in this financial year. The projects covered include the establishment of 12 smart schools, 2 milk villages, public infrastructure for 18 villages, health infrastructure, sheep & dairy farms, etc.
