We change 220225

Delhi: Atishi is the Leader of the Opposition in Delhi. Cricket: Champions Trophy starts and India is doing well. Pope: Pope Francis, 88, is in critical condition battling double pneumonia and a lung infection with kidney complications. 1.3 billion Catholics are holding their breath on what, how next. If the Pope dies, first it is reconfirmed to declare ‘the pope is truly dead’. Then the pope’s fisherman’s ring and seal would be destroyed. This ends the pope’s rule symbolically. This is followed by a funeral within 6 days of death, and mourning. After 15 days, the papal conclave at the Vatican votes with two-thirds majority. Then, the announcement comes, after selecting a papal name, ‘Habemus Papam’ – we have a pope.  On the other hand, if the pope is incapacitated, the senior cardinals continue running the Church. Important decisions may get delayed. Only solution then is for the pope to resign voluntarily, as it happened in 2013. Previous Pope and the current Pope stay together in the Vatican.

Thinking, Thought. Cognitive processes independent of sensory stimulation. Inclusive of judging, reasoning, conceptualization, problem solving, and deliberation. Inclusive of processes linked to idea, memory, and imagination. In its widest sense, all mental events are considered part of thinking. Perception, unconscious mental processes. Thought may include mental states, systems of ideas. Conscious, unconscious, subconscious. Phenomenology – experience of thinking, metaphysics, linking mind and matter, cognitive-development psychology, psychoanalysis, linguistics, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, biology, sociology et al. Laws of thought, logic – contradiction, exclusion, and principle of identity. Counterfactual thinking. Thought experiments. Critical thinking – reasonable, reflective, and determining concrete beliefs to act upon. Positive thinking, optimism.

Our personality – personal behaviour, transitions, and interpersonal relationship traits – changes and develops over time. Being together is one of the most important personal transitions someone can experience. These include: family, intimate relationships, friendships, co-existential communities, work associations, etc. When these relationships arise, they set us up to adjust to our new roles, new tasks. In these relationships, personality does not remain unaffected. There would be adaptive changes for social recognition, extraversion, introversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, openness et al. Age, education, and income are not significant determinants. However, gender is. The tenure of a relationship is. Initial satisfaction and happiness is. Size of the group/team is. Can we therefore choose our relationships, coexist with them, as intimately as we can? This can change us into better human beings, becomings.

Personality change translates as behaviour change – changes in a person’s actions, habits and attitudes. These can improve our wellbeing, productivity, efficiency, efficacy, and performance. Change requires: readiness, to overcome barriers, and practice, so that behaviour relapse may not happen. Can we identify the changes we seek, to pursue the change? Can we practice them? Can we reinforce these practices via our co-existential relationships? Can we choose these relations with care? Can we nurture these relations with care?

Yes, we can. If we coexist, flowing. Being in nourishing relations. In N? Bandhayoga for 7L.
