We are moving towards Viksit Bharat, a developed India. USD 35 Trillion, INR 3500 lakh Crore economy. Inclusive, equitable, and sustainable. Per capita income, USD 25,000+, INR 25 lakh. It should translate into every Indian family earning a dignified living, affording three meals a day. Prosperity reaching every village, every home, and every person – farmer, artisan, forest dweller, nomadic, and labour. With ecology intact or better than today. Basics of life as rights. Food-nutrition-health, and education. Can we localize? Can we be green, blue? Can we pay for the eco-services fully? Can we transcend food security, nutrition security to livelihoods, wellbeing security? Can we guarantee ‘livelihoods’ for every willing person? Can we make water, food, healthcare, and housing accessible and affordable? Can we protect ourselves against shocks of illness, climate events, and markets?
In Amrt Kaal, can we protect, augment our living assets – forests, rivers, villages, farmlands, coasts, culture, and people? 1.5 Billion Indians ‘do’, i.e. 20% of the world, let us not forget. Can we do it?
Who will do all this? Can we seek people’s opinion and work accordingly? In the next 2-3 years. Intensively, extensively. Can we listen to a million people? Value-chain players. On-the-ground stakeholders? Producers, value-adders, labour, service providers, and consumers. In situ. Informed. Participatory assessments, analyses in various local nano-micro contexts.
We need to work with entrepreneurs, enterprises, and collectives. We need to work with service providers. We need to work with the support entities in the communities, in the ecosystem, in the market place and in the ‘state’. We need to work with communicators, articulators, influencers, and policy makers. We need to work with education, students, learners, teachers, and educators. We need to work with/on manifestos. We need to work with local governments, state governments and national governments. Civil society, support organizations, individuals. Advocacy groups.
What do we need to work on? 2026-27-30-35-47-72 Plans. Can we do visioning for Bharat, for various groups/teams? Strategic frameworks. Result Matrices. Metrics. Timelines. Education, health, and livelihoods. Some need to be done more, swifter. Scaling-up. Some need to be tested, piloted, and then scaled-up. Some need to be disseminated for auto-replication. Scaling-out. Some require deepening. Some require skilling up. Some require tooling. Some just require inspiration, motivation. Some require norming, rules, legislations, and regulations. Some go through the business-market route. Some take the campaign, culture route. Some take ethical, moral routes. Some may require spiritual routes.
What should be our approach? Models, examples immediately. Champions. Mentoring champions. 1.5 Billion = 350 Million families. 2-3 Million local resource persons, champions, entrepreneurs, enterprises, teachers, educators et al. 2-3 lakh local mentors, animators, active across-the-themes integrating champions with high mobility. 25,000 block heads, team leads, theme leads, master trainers/ mentors. 2,500 geography coordinators, facilitators, lead mentors, and designers. 250 senior working groups, think tanks, and lifeworkers. Paid-unpaid volunteers, time givers, expertise contributors, and resource mobilizers – people, partners, and funds. We gradually ramp up, starting now.
