Venkataraman Iyer, Ramana Maharshi, 146 [30 December 1879 – 14 April 1950]. Ramana Maharshi recommended self-enquiry as the principal means to remove ignorance and abide in self-awareness, together with bhakti (devotion) or surrender to the Self. Self-enquiry draws constant attention to the inner awareness, to experience directly of being, by staying with it the mind comes to rest, leading to self-realisation or liberation. If we remain still without leaving it, we can reach Sahaja Samadhi, a silent state while engaged in daily activities. Ramana advocated the path of bhakti and self-surrender (to one’s deity or guru) together with the path of self-enquiry. Surrender has to be complete and desireless. Surrender is for the sake of love and nothing else. Yoga – devotion, breath control, and meditation – as a means to steady the mind and support self-enquiry. Ramana did not publicise himself as a guru, never claimed to have disciples, and never appointed any successors. While a few who came to see him are said to have become enlightened through association, he did not publicly acknowledge any living person as liberated other than his mother at death. For Ramana, or as per Ramana, in the end, God, Guru and Self are the same.

We simply need to attend to making ourselves ready and the rest is automatic. The Guru will come to us when we are ready. Can we get ready? Can we practice, try, watch, observe, compare, experience, read, listen; meditate; reflect, discuss, analyze, interpret, articulate, communicate, speak, and write? Can we appreciate – who am I, where am I, why am I here, what am I doing, what would I do if I am not here? Can we see how we are aligned with universal values – hope, faith, promise, love, and coexistence? If not, what happens? Can we see our team(s)? How do we serve, lead, manage, facilitate, and animate our teams? What else do we do, beyond these? What are our ends that give us satisfaction, happiness, joy, and aananda? What are the means we pursue for these ends? Aren’t they the same? Can we take this to others in our teams, and take them along?

Can we, can all of us, be useful, relevant? Can we add more into us?

Yes, we can. If we coexist, flowing. Being with ourselves, thick and thin. In N? ko’hamyoga for 7L.
