It appears LEAPs have come a long way. They have also been ‘gendered’. Now it is time they become ‘nature-centric, nature-friendly’. We need N-LEAPs. N-value-chains, N-subsectors. N-analyses. N-enterprises, and entrepreneurs. N-architecture. Livelihoods Framework itself has to transform to be fully ‘gendered’, with agency for the poor, vulnerable and marginalized, in sync with N. The narratives, principles have to be rooted in N.
AP announced at DAVOS that it is accelerating NF in a big way. NF to enter all GPs in a year; Double the number of farm families into NF journey from the current 18 lakh in the next 4-5 years; land would also more than double in the same period. 40% of these families to move into complete 365DGC NF; and 20% to have models making more than Rs.10,000 a month from NF farming. A good 10,000 Farmers’ Research and Learning landscapes would be serving NF purposes.
NRLM takes one more step forward on Natural Farming. Under its farm livelihoods agenda. SHG-led NF towards lakhpati didis. States are making first plans for the same. Annual Action Plans can include these plans in 2026-27 itself. NRLM-Rural Development and Agriculture are trying to ‘be together’ in this effort. Till now, it appeared we peaked in our 40s/50s, except for a few exceptional legends. Recent studies, surveys, analytics indicate we are becoming less relevant by late 40s. 60+ is still relevant, it appears, may be for another 5 years or so, may be for the wisdom, deeper knowledge, insights, network et al. It appears, late 40s, early 50s are no longer ‘fresh’, no longer ready to learn ‘new skills, tools’, no longer have the time to ‘invest’, no longer useful as a fully relevant ready professional. Lean does not work for them. When one loses the job, at this stage, finding a new decent job is not easy. In our 40s, we are not having any ‘support’ to take these shocks. No transition to fall back on. No bridge to cross. Middle layers are collapsing, in a way, all across. Younger, cheaper talent with more physical, mental, and emotional stamina are required. Can we withstand this? Can we support them? Can we restructure ourselves so as not to fall into this?
Can we celebrate life? Can we spend time with children, elders? Can we play their favourite things? Games, puzzles, and blocks. Rides, walks, and swims. Friends. Books. Songs. Films. Eats. Drawings, colouring. Reading stories. Writing. Sharing. Conversations. Dressing-up. Sleeping, laughing et al.
