Feeling terrible. We seem to have eaten Tirumala Balaji’s laddu made with adulterated synthetic ghee for over 4-5 years. The adulterated substance was not primarily animal fat but a “synthetic” mixture of palm oil, palm olein, and other chemicals used to create a false positive for pure ghee. 60+ lakh kg of this spurious ghee was used between 2019 and 2024. This supply continued even after tests confirming adulteration, it seems. TTD has changed its procurement policies, blacklisted the involved suppliers, and now uses “unblemished” ghee for laddu preparation.
A friend has argued for how much we need when we retire. Whenever that is. In India. To live a decent life that includes stay, food, medicines, travel, entertainment, events et al.
