The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) has made its debut in the QS World University Rankings, in 2026, with a global rank of 151 in the Agriculture and Forestry category, marking the first time an Indian standalone agricultural body has entered the top 200.

90% of Anopheles funestus populations, that cause malaria, now possess high-level resistance to pyrethroids, and this resistance has led to a 25% increase in transmission rate for malaria.

 

Average winter temperatures in Arunachal Pradesh have risen by 1.8°C over the past 20 years, drying up 40% of perennial springs, and reducing horticulture yields by 30%. 70% of indigenous communities now suffer acute water scarcity: IMD’s State on Climate for Arunachal Pradesh 2024.
