The number of individuals in India with networth of Rs. 1000 crore or more grew by 77% from 2019 to 2025, and now the top 1% of India’s wealth owners possess 40% of India’s wealth. Putting a 2% wealth tax on them could create 50 billion$ per year for social welfare: Study.
