Livelihoods Update: 2 September 2021

  1. In Maharashtra, 23 lakh people have registered under PM Matru Vandana scheme. Pregnant women and lactating mothers would get Rs. 5000 under it to ensure nutritional & financial support during pregnancy.
  2. Kerala cabinet gives nod to establishment of a unified registry for beneficiaries of all government welfare programs. It will facilitate avoidance of issues like duplication and repetition of beneficiaries due to lack of convergence.
  3. UP government to provide training to 50,000 youth under the Chief Minister Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme. Each youth will receive Rs. 2500 per month.
  4. National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) has signed an MoU with South Asian Institute for Advanced Research and Development (SAIARD) to increase regional capacity building in Integrated River Basin Management, with focus on using Geospatial Technology.
  5. India launches a 1-year long soft skills training program for women entrepreneurs in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Over 700 women have already applied for the program that will develop the trainees’ communication and presentation skills along with other soft skills.
