Around 50% of India's farm households were in debt averaging Rs. 74,121 as of December 2019. Andhra Pradesh (AP) stood on top in average outstanding income (Rs. 2.45 lakh). AP also had the highest proportion of agricultural households under debt (93.2%), followed by Telangana (91.7%) and Kerala (69.9%): Report.  Andhra Pradesh government to provide 6.5 lakh free laptops to students above class 9 availing government cash support under Amma Vodi and Vasati Deevena schemes in the 2021-22 academic year.  Odisha Government disburses Rs. 742.58 crore (Rs. 2000 per beneficiary) to 37 lakh small and marginal farming households under KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) scheme yesterday.  Dharma Life has started a new programme - "Lighting Up Young Minds Learning", which will provide digital tutoring to students in rural areas that have lost out on educational facilities due to COVID-19, and will cover 3 lakh students in India.   7 lakh farmers in Maharashtra have raised insurance claims because of major damage to crops due to heavy rains. The claims will be assessed soon. Other than crop damage, there was major soil erosion, damages to cattle sheds and so on.
