Livelihoods Update: 22 November 2021

Indore ranked the cleanest city (with over 1 lakh population) in India followed by Surat and Vijayawada. Chhattisgarh ranked the cleanest state of India followed by Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Surat declared the cleanest district; Vita, cleanest town: Swachh Survekshan 2021.

Gujarat government to provide upto Rs. 1500 to farmers for purchasing smartphones. This will help farmers utilize smartphones to increase their income as digital services in agriculture are on the rise.

Punjab government has paid outstanding dues of Rs. 54 crore for cooking cost of the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in the state. The government schools have been suspended meals for the last 20 days as the government didn’t release funds to schools. 17 lakh students in 19,700 government schools eat the meals.

Bihar Government is going to give Rs. 25000 to female students who graduated from college after the year 2018 and before 1st April 2021 and Rs. 50000 if they graduate after April 2021. They will transfer the money to the students’ bank accounts.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal asked the tea industry for a detailed proposal on all its issues, so that the government can take action on them. The issues they raised include MSP for tea leaves, agricultural benefits needed for small tea growers, transportation and logistics issues, etc.
