Products made by women Self Help Group (SHG) members in Jharkhand are now on sale on Amazon and Flipkart under the brand name ‘Palash’. Around 2 lakh rural women entrepreneurs are manufacturing, processing, packaging and selling products under this brand name.

Madhya Pradesh Government has announced the legalization of liquor made out of Mahua. This will create employment and income for tribal persons involved in the work. Tribals will also have the right to sell the product. 

India voted in favour of the UN resolution to eradicate rural poverty to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the UN General Assembly.

National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (NIRD & PR) began training State Program Coordinators (SPCs) and Young Fellows (YFs) on its Project for Creating Model GP Clusters (PCMGPCs). The Project will work on creating 250 model GP clusters across India in two phases.

The Centre is planning to start a national scheme to completely rehabilitate beggars. It has already started a pilot project that is currently running in 10 cities at a cost of Rs. 19 crore.
