Livelihoods Update: 18 April 2022

According to World Bank, the poverty headcount rate has seen a 12.3% decline in India from 22.5% in 2011 to 10.2% in 2019. The report noted that poverty had declined more (14.7%)  in rural areas compared to urban areas (7.9%).

A quarter of a million people will be forced into extreme poverty in 2022, due to reasons including food and fuel prices and the pandemic: Oxfam Report.

India’s first Skill India International Centre started in Bhubaneswar, to train and place youngsters in foreign countries.

Jharkhand is in the process of finalizing the Guruji Student Credit Card scheme for giving education loans to students.

Ukraine requests financial support to the tune of $50 billion from G7 nations to help the war-ravaged country.
