Livelihoods Update 8 November 2024

Haryana State Government stated that its sex ratio has hit its lowest in 8 years, at 905. WHO’s ideal sex ratio is 950.

 

The Central Government has doubled the penalty on errant farmers burning crop stubble, under the Environment Protection Act, with fines ranging from Rs. 5,000 – Rs. 30,000 per incidence.

 

The Central Government has approved the PM Vidyalaxmi scheme, at a budget of Rs. 3,600 crore for 5 years, from 2024-25 to 2030-31, benefiting 22 lakh students every year.

 

2024 is going to be the hottest year since the pre-industrial period, and the first year to cross the 1.5°C limit above the preindustrial annual average temperature: Study.

 

The International Finance Corporation is working with Bajaj Finance, and will invest 400 million$ out of the 1 billion$ being raised to help Bajaj Finance enhance loans towards EV fleet, Energy Efficient Consumer Goods and women empowerment.
