Flowing in Nature

Standards – we need to revisit and redefine standards for various products and services to make them in sync with nature.

Bihar Elections. Nitish and NDA may be back with more majority. Yet, we have to watch the alliance breaks and new formations and the way voters reactions.

Sobha Naidu, Nritya Choodamani (Krishna Gana Sabha), legendary Kuchpudi dancer and master, outstanding disciple of Vempati Chinna Satyam, succumbs to neurological disposition. Her performances as Satyabhama, Padmavati, Chandalika, Rama, Vivekananda are superlative. She has more than 10,000 performances to her credit – at least one performance a day. More than 1500 students from India and students are carrying her ‘legacy’ forward. She was the Principal of Kuchipudi Art Academy at Hyderabad since 1980. We knew her through her SPIC-MACAY performances in ‘80s.

Rural Women. Women. Women lead. Rural women lead. They farm. They manage farms. They run farm enterprises. They train, mentor and nurture. They are sensitive. They care. They live close to nature. They live in harmony with nature. They are the nature. They are the life. They are the energy. They are the resilience. They are the stamina. They mother. They love. Humankind is blessed – men can be ‘women’ too if they work towards it.

Hyderabad Rains. Now it crossed 32 cm of rain. Century’s highest rainfall event. Caused by deep depression in the Bay of Bengal. Hyderabad, Telangana, AP are busting in the seams. Inundated cities and most places. Overflowing tanks and rivers, including Musi, in spate. Million+ people are affected. 100s have died. Buildings damaged. Vehicles dragged away. Government has declared ‘off’. People have been asked to stay indoors. Losses can be huge, may be in the range of Rs.50,000 Crore, across these 4 states. How do we recover?

What is happening to CoVID now, under these circumstances, in these areas? Will it go berserk?
No choice. All this calls for all of us going nature’s way. Taking along as many of us as possible. And keep nudging all others. This would mean: living simple, living local, loving spaces, loving dirt, rock, trees, wild, open sky, water, rain, breeze, heat and dust, sweat, so on. Moving into – social, cultural and ecological identity. Moving from economic identity. Intimately connecting to the land, the sky, the flow, the air, the locally grown food. To the cycles of light and dark, the feel and scent of the air. Knowing and feeling the nature by the body, senses, heart and mind.

We demonstrate our living in sync with N – by wanting to be near it, knowing everything about it, rejoicing in its presence, fearing its loss, protecting it, transforming ourselves in its presence, losing in it, wanting the best for it. Desperate. Walk, trek, cycle, see, hear, small, taste, touch, feel, embrace, talk … Not on the surface, not brief, but intensely, deeply, leisurely, slowly. With nature and with life in the nature. With names, nick names for each and every life, item, location … Exploring what, when, how and why. Nature’s ways. Nature’s processes. Drawing, painting, colouring, describing, singing, writing, conversing. Knowing the stories and histories. Telling them. Weaving ourselves into the stories.

When we flow in nature and live with nature, we love nature. As it is. With its nuances. It is the devotion. It is attention. It is the action.

Can we quickly act? Can we go N’s way now? Can we all go, and take others with us?
Let us coexist locally in the nature. Women in lead. With the nature. N-centric. Being useful. Now. For 7L.
