One of our associates, Nirmala Tammineni, managed to shoot tamarind harvesting and processing in Udmalgidda village, Narayanpet district, Telangana. From climbing trees for having a go at the fruit to de-shelling the fruit, we must say, it is no mean task! But the sweet aftertaste of this fruit is not to be had by these people; generally, middlemen buy the tamarind from these people for peanuts and make 5 to 10 times more profit.
