Livelihoods Update: 17 May 2022

The Rajasthan Government has started the Rajasthan Nikshay Sambal Yojana to provide financial, nutritional and educational support to tuberculous (TB) patients.

A dairy farmers’ body in Odisha has demanded the Union Government provide a minimum support price for milk of Rs. 50 per litre as the milk farmers were not getting a remunerative price for their produce.

Six days ahead of schedule, the southwest monsoon has covered parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with the islands experiencing heavy rainfall. It is expected that the monsoon will arrive in Kerala by May 27.

According to a report on Down To Earth, farmers in North India are facing an acute shortage of dry fodder to feed cattle due to the wheat crisis going on in the country. While the rate of wheat straw was around Rs. 400-600 per quintal last year, it is around Rs. 1100-1700 per quintal this year.

Melghat Tiger Reserve (MTR) Conservation Foundation, which provides free skill development training to tribal youth in the Amravati district of Maharashtra, has registered with Skill India Portal. This will ensure that the Foundation gets a continuous stream of grants to enable them to provide uninterrupted training programs.
