Field Work
Team Akshara Livelihoods conducted a Participatory Program Review (PPR) of the Family Strengthening Programme (FSP) with the Communities of SOS Children’s Village in 22 clusters of Bangalore from 25 – 30 August 2022.
A member of the our team, T Venkateshwarlu (Venkat Kolagari), conducted the PPR with the support of Narayanan (Zonal Coordinator, SOS), Assistant Village Director (AVD), Senior & Junior Co-workers, Animators, Self-Help Group (SHGs) members, Balpanchayat members, and School & Tuition teachers. During the fieldwork, we interacted with SHG members, Balpanchayat members, Tuitions & School teachers.
FSP focuses on strengthening SOS families for children’s education and overall development through running various activities through SHGs, Balpanchayats, etc. including health, nutrition and hygiene support through distribution of hygiene and nutrition kits as well as running of special medical campus, education support through distribution of stationery and education material and free tutoring, livelihood support through enterprise promotion, loans, etc. In addition to that, they also provided ration and cooked food during the covid-19 lockdown period.
