India had 5,737 dowry deaths in 2024, at a national rate of 0.8 per lakh women, with the most in UP (2,038), followed by Bihar (1,078), despite the ban of dowry since 1961: Study.

 

Bee populations are collapsing in Northeast India, creating a critical ecological crisis. This is due to rising chemical usage in plantations, and lack of diversified farming: Study.

 

The Central Government has issued a travel advisory covering Ebola-affected regions, since a rare Bundibugyo strain in Uganda and the DRC has infected 650 people and killed 144.

 

Developed nations gave a record 136.7 billion$ in climate finance in 2024, but low-income countries only got 7% of it: Climate Finance Provided and Mobilised by Developed Countries Study.

 

Climate stress has severely damaged Bihar’s Shahi Litchi crop, with farmers facing losses of up to 70% in Muzaffarpur. 12,000 hectares of litchi cultivation has been affected. Bihar produces 43% of India’s litchi: Study.

 

The USA and 7 other countries have voted against an International Court of Justice climate ruling which ended with a 141-8 vote. The ruling states that Governments have international legal obligations to address climate change: Study.
