Telangana Education Commission (TEC) Chairman Akunuri Murali resigns. Four months before the completion of his tenure. The Commission submitted a comprehensive report on the condition of both public and private education sectors in Telangana, along with a set of recommendations for reforms. Key recommendations include: establishing Telangana Education Standards Authority (TESA) to monitor standards; regulating private school fees; revamping higher education by scrapping the self-financing system; overhauling mid-day meals; introduction of Telangana Public Schools; merging of school and intermediate education; introducing three year pre-primary sections – nursery, PP1 and PP2; review of remuneration to teachers at various levels; 18% of GDP for education et al. Hope some of the recommendations would be implemented soon. Hope Murali will continue to be in the public service space for many years to come.

Now, after the elections in 5 states and new Chief Ministers coming in, Karnataka is going for a change of Chief Minister. Siddaramaiah has been asked to go. It is expected that Siddaramaiah goes to Rajya Sabha. DK Shiv Kumar is likely to take charge and take Karnataka to election in a couple of years. With this, except in AP, we are seeing a new leadership in each of the Southern States. A new ‘group’ has emerged in South – Revanth, Shiv Kumar, Satheesan, Vijay. Rahul Gandhi and Stalin might be blessing this group. We have to wait and see how this group functions, performs and delivers.
