Livelihoods Update: 22 December 2021

Niti Aayog and United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) signed a statement of intent that concentrates on India providing a diverse food basket under its free food distribution program, with a focus on millets.

As of 13th December 2021, the Centre has sanctioned 30 lakh loans worth Rs. 3000 crore under PM-SVANidhi scheme. Of them, the government disbursed Rs. 2714 crore to 27 lakh beneficiaries.

Andhra Pradesh launches scheme to waive off all loans and their interest on government-sanctioned houses. It will also give the complete rights of houses to beneficiaries under the scheme, by paying a nominal amount of the unpaid dues. 

The Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) has started a scheme to provide Rs. 5000 overdraft (OD) to verified women Self Help Group (SHG) members having Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts. It will help fulfill their credit needs during the pandemic.

Odisha will give house repair assistance of Rs. 3000 per family, to 30 lakh families, who were covered under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana and 2 other state schemes, via Direct Benefit Transfer. The scheme will cost the State Rs. 1444 crore.
